Donald Davis, only 46 years old, died earlier this week while teaching a step aerobics class in Cherry Hill NJ. This points to the importance of having a thorough physical exam before beginning any exercise program. Mr. Davis was an avid athlete and Sunday school teacher, so presumably he lived a very clean life. His name is added to the litany of athletes who have died while pursuing the sports they loved.
While the cause of Mr. Davis’ death isn’t immediately known, in many cases sudden death of trained athletes during exertion is caused by a genetic heart defect. If you are going to participate in any strenuous exercise program – weather for fat loss, strength building, or general fitness, please get yourself checked first!
